Barnet’s Animal Control enforcement is regulated by the Animal Control Ordinance, which can be found at the Municipal Ordinances page. The Animal Control Officer (contact information below), appointed by the Selectboard, has broad enforcement authority under the ordinance and the direction of the Selectboard.

Reporting Violations
If you would like to report a violation of the Animal Control Ordinance, please complete and submit an Animal Control Complaint Form, available at the Forms Page.
Dog Licensing
The licensing of all dogs and wolf-hybrids age six months or older is due annually on or before April 1. Fees due are listed below. A current rabies vaccination certificate also must be presented. Licenses may be purchased 1) by check through the mail (Town of Barnet, PO Box 15, Barnet, VT 05821), or 2) by cash or check at the Town Clerk’s Office (154 Church Street) during normal weekday hours.
