Q. What is the due date of taxes?
A. The 2022 due date is Saturday, October 15. The due date is voted annually at Town Meeting and does therefore change from year to year. Ordinarily a Saturday near the middle of October is chosen. The Town Clerk’s Office is open on the Saturday of the due date to collect taxes.
Q. When will I receive my tax bill?
A. Tax bills are usually mailed in early September.
Q. What period of time does my tax payment cover?
A. Taxes are billed annually to fund the Town fiscal year of January 1st through December 31st and the School District fiscal year of July 1st through June 30th. Therefore, your tax payment in October of a given year contributes to the budget years, of both the Town and the School District, that are currently in progress at the time of your payment.
